My reviews are based on my personal experience with a product or event. I am not a professional product tester nor do I get paid for any of my blog posts.

The items that I post reviews on, have either been purchased on the internet or through a local vendor. Additionally I will review items that I got on sale, as a gift or as a sample from either the manufacurer or some other source.

Note: always read the manufacturers directions on how to properly use a product and craft carefully. Additionally, I am an Amazon Associate and may earn a few cents (literally) from your clicking on my Amazon links. Since they raised the minimum payout from earnings to $10 I haven't seen a credit for a while but eventually I will get one.

Every penny counts when trying to set a budget to get supplies to use for my reviews, tutorials and hauls. However, you do not have to use my links. You can use your favorite search engine to find the best price for your budget.

Stickii Club Review - November 2018 Retro Pack - Subscription

Stickii Club November 2018 Retro Pack

If you love holiday themed stickers then the November 2018 monthly delivery of the Stickii Club Retro Subscription pack is a must see.  For those who are not familiar with the Stickii Club, it is a monthly subscription service that sends out themed stickers packs.  They currently offer three choices:

  • Cute
  • Retro
  • and Pop

Each pack features different styles of stickers with different themes. For those who are not sure about whether or not they would like a certain collection, the Stickii club has a great instagram account where they feature previews of the upcoming sticker packs.  Each pack is easily identifiable by their envelope.

You can change your subscription by going onto the website and making the changes.  They usually state what the last date to make a change is,  but you can always contact customer service to make sure.

Anyway, as I was saying the "Retro" stickii pack theme for November was "Winter Wonderland"

and it features some darling stickers with great details.  It is hard to see how cute these really are just through photos.

Each pack also comes with a plastic storage sheet  (holder) which holds the entire kit.

Each of the packs also come with a convenient corner sticker so you can easily reference which pack it is.

The packs usually feature a cute sticky paper pad that reflects the theme for the month.  The price is really reasonable for what you get in these kits.  I currently pay $11 or $12 a month for my subscription for the Retro pack.  The price includes shipping which makes it a great deal for the amount of stickers in the packs.  Also, so far each shipment has been filled with high quality stickers that include at least one sheet of gold or silver foiled stickers.

The themes within each category change each month, so it is a good idea to follow the Stickii Club on their Instagram Account to see what the theme is going to be.

Disclaimer:  I am not employed or associated by the Stickii Club. I am a monthly subscriber who really enjoys their products.  Also, this post and the products discussed are not paid for by anyone but myself. The links in this post do not provide me with any income, they are there for your convenience only.  Also, keep in mind, that each person has their perception of anything and what I perceive may not be what you perceive.  You can agree or disagree with me.  It is just a part of life.  Happy Holidays!

Stickii Club Monthly Sticker Club - Review

If you love collecting Kawaii stickers or just some fun stickers with cool themes then you might enjoy some of the fun sticker collections offered by the Stickii Club.  The Stickii Club offers both monthly subscriptions, as well as  the opportunity to make a single purchase of past collections.  Their website updates often with new offerings so you may want to visit it often to view new collections before they sell out.

The Stickii Club offers three different style sticker subscription packs.  They sell for about $10 plus shipping (which is really reasonable) and depending on the state you are in, you may be charged tax.  The sticker collections come in a really nice plastic sleeve and is prepunched and can be added to most A5 size ringed planners.  According to the Stickii Club website each pack may contain:
5 sheets of Stickers - the Manor Collection

  • 5-6 sticker sheets
  • 1 sticker flake packet
  • 1-2 Stationary Items (at least 1 is usually a cool paper clip)
  • A plastic sleeve that has been specially made to hold their stickers.

Stickii Club Stationary Items for the Manor Set

The quality of the plastic sleeves is really nice.  The sleeves have a couple of pockets to hold the stationary items and the flake packs. There is also a larger pocket to hold the sheets of stickers.

Another bonus, is that they include a set of triangle shaped stickers that can be adhered to the plastic sleeves so you can easily identify which set is in the sleeve.  I put my sleeves in an A5 Ringed Planner Binder so this makes finding the right sticker so easy and efficient.
Corner Sticker to Label Collection Sleeve

There are three choices of sticker packs to choose from:

  • Cute,
  • Retro
  • and Pop

You can subscribe to just one or to all three.  I subscribe to just two but I like that they do sell past sets on their site so I can purchase any that really appeal to me. My favorite are the Retro Collections. Below are two of my favorite past sets from the Stickii Club Making Memories Collection

and the Stickii Club Gothic Literature Collection (they are sold out of this one).  Below are some of the stickers that were included in the Stickii Club Making Memories Collection (they still have a few available on the website).

I also really love the tiny framed artwork stickers below.  I can not remember which collection they were in but they are my favorites.  They fit perfectly in the monthly boxes of my Hobonichi Weeks planner.  They are small without losing any of details. The quality of this sheet of stickers is great.

I have included some links to the Stickii Club site which are just for your convenience. I do not make any money at all from them.  Check out there site and see some of the cute and retro stickers that they have available.  Also, if you are curious as to what they are going to release next month, just check out their instagram.  They post peeks and previews of the new collections and some of their new sticker sheets there.

Disclaimer:  I do not work for Stickii Club nor is this post sponsored. I paid for my stickii sets and subscriptions with my own money.  This is just my opinion of their collections which you may or may not agree with.  The best way to figure if it is a good match for you is to experience their sticker sets for yourself.

What To Bring To A Planner Event or Planner Meetups

For those who have never attended a planner event, here is some information on what to bring with you to a planner event or planner meet up.  This is just my list suggested items and keep in mind that everyone has their own favorite list of items to take to an event.  Also, what you bring to an event can vary.  I recently went to the My Prima Planner Launch Event in Temecula, California, which provided us with our choice of their new My Prima Planners.  So the items of I brought vary differently from what I would have taken to other planner events and meetups.

My first recommendation is to bring your planner and some pens.  Since each planner is made of its own unique paper, the type of pen used in a planner will vary.  When I take my “Happy Planner” to an event, then I can take pretty much any type of pen, which includes permanent markers, because the paper is so thick.   My Hobonichi planner is made of Tomoe River Paper, which is strong and bleed resistant.  However, I can see the shadow of some ink on the back of a page.  So I use gel pens and other lighter inks on it.  The Tomoe River paper is rather thin, so I also use a pencil board to keep from imprinting onto the following page (if you press hard with your pen or pencil it will leave an indention on the next page).   This also helps if you are testing out new inks.

If you are new to planning, I can happily recommend PilotFriXion Pens.  They are erasable (be gentle while erasing if your paper is thin).  They also have a line of highlighters that are erasable too.  I love using those on my college school books, since I tend to resell those at the end of the semester.  Pilot also has a line of stamps called the Pilot FriXion Erasable Stamps that include a wide variety of images including holiday, meals, birthday and many more.

Amazon carries a Pilot FriXion Erasable Stamp set of 30 different images.  Since the FriXion pens and stamps work on heat (the process of erasing causes a heat reaction), then don’t be surprised if you leave your planner in a hot car and find some of your entries have disappeared. I left mine in my car on a 105° day (so it was pretty hot in the car) and I did have some entries fade.  I did some research and found that some people put the planner in the freezer and are able to recover some of their entries.  It did not work for me but maybe that was because it was my Hobonichi (which is thinner paper).  So keep that in mind if you use the FriXion Pens.

As you can see, the supply list can be varied in accordance to the planer and how each person uses it.  I often attend planner meetups at my local Michaels and/or JoAnns Craft stores.  Those events are usually only two hours long so I take a lot less supplies with me.  I try to make all my supplies fit into one of the "Me and My Big Ideas" Striped Storage Cases.

So here is a list of some items that you might consider taking with you to your first planner meet up.

Planner Meetup Essentials:
  • Planner
  • Pens / pencils
  • Washi Tape (I wrap my washi tape onto used plastic gift cards so that I can carry a large selection while still using only a small amount of space in my tote bag.)
  • Adhesive
  • Stickers
  • Tweezers (To make moving stickers around easier)
  • Scissors
  • Sticky Notes

All Day Planner Events:
Additional Items if you’re going to an all day event or have more room in your planner tote bag:

  • Portable Paper Cutter
  • Hole Punch
  • Rubber Stamps
  • Stamp pads
  • Snacks and water (some places don’t allow other types of beverages)

Swap Items:
Some meetups have swaps (don’t worry the planner meetup usually will state if there is a swap or not):

  • Swap Items (check with host as to how many you need to bring).
  • Container to Hold Swap items you will receive.
I recommend a box like in the photo below because it makes it easier to carry and is great to take a quick Instagram picture.

Gift Exchange:
Some meetups have gift exchanges that are set at a particular value.  I have now attended quite a few different meet ups and can say that it should be planner related.  Here is a picture of some of the items I received in a gift exchange at the @90twins planner event. It was a very generous gift.

Now participating in a gift exchange can be tricky.  There are always new members who attend gift exchanges and if the host does not specify what should be in the gift exchange you may get something completely unrelated.  If you are picky about your planner supplies, just remember that you don't ever have to participate in the gift exchanges either.  If I am new to a group I will not participate in the gift exchange until I get an idea of what types of items that particular group likes.

Just a thought: I want to share a thought that my mother taught us.  She said that we should accept a gift with grace.  She also taught use that we should never criticize the gift itself, since it could hurt a person’s feelings.  After all, we all have different perspectives of what a planner supply is and what types of supplies we like to use, so we cannot expect another person to know what we would want.

One of the planner meetups I am going to be attending in December is actually having a collection for new unwrapped toys which will be given to the “Choc Children Hospital Toy Drive”.  They decided that they would do that instead of the traditional swap and gift exchange.  I thought that was a lovely idea to give to others during the holiday time.

White Elephant or Destash Table:
These are my favorites.  Attendees bring planner supplies that they don’t want or need.  This included stickers, adhesives, paper, stamps, journaling cards, pens, and so much more. They are placed on the table to find new owners.  I love donating items to that table because then I don’t have to feel guilty about getting rid of something that does not serve my planner needs.  I know that someone who does want and need it will take it home.

The great thing about planner events and planner meetups is that the host usually posts a list that offers suggestions of what items to bring with you to the event.  Those are mostly for first time attendees but are helpful just the same.  Also, the price for each event can vary.  I pay a small fee of $5 a year for my meetups membership that covers the cost of postings, etc.  However, each planner event can vary from $15 to $150.  Each one depends on who is hosting the event.  The “My Prima Planner Launch Event” was $120 which included one of the new planners that they were launching,
a technique or accessory class that was structured to each planner,
A watercolor mini class offered at the Prima Planner Launch Party!
some fun “make and take” projects,
My Prima Planner Launch Party Planner Insert Page Project

a planner goody box,

lunch, dessert, beverages, and wine tasting (for those who wished to taste the wines).  The event was worth far more than it cost.  The location was beautiful and I made some new friends there.

Planner events and planner meetups are a great way to meet people who share your love of planning and learn some new techniques.  I also find out about other future planner events from the people who attend.  They usually have popup shops that give you a chance to see and purchase planner related products.  It really is a fun experience and I enjoy attending them.  If you know of some fun upcoming planner meet ups, please share it by leaving a comment below.

2016 Marion Smith Planners Lovers Retreat | Event Review Part 2

My Marion Smith Planner With Some of the Goodies I got at the Show.

The Marion Smith 2016 Planner Lovers Retreat in Pasadena California was a fun way to meet other planners and see planner related merchandise in person. There are not a lot of stores who carry the types of planner supplies that I like to use in planning my layouts, so often I have to order off Etsy or go to my local craft stores to find items.  Getting to see these Etsy vendors in person, at a Planner Event, makes it so easy to know what planner accessories will work in various planners and travelers notebooks.
DIY Flower Planner Clip

One of my favorite type of planner goody is planner clips (decorated paper clips).  I saw this cute Bunny Page Clip from the Elite Planners Club and had to purchase it.

Veronica Love, the founder of the Elite Planners Club, also had a few more of her great planner Clip designs available. Below is just a sampling.
Veronica and a few of her page Clip Designs (ElitePlannersClub.com)

The sticker selection at the show was amazing.  Stickersters had an amazing selection on display of their stickers collection.

These ladies had everything from Harry Potter Fan themed stickers to Yoga Stickers and everything in between.  They even had grab bags of stickers that did not quite make the cut for around $5 for 6 half sheets and 2 quarter sheets of stickers (a really great deal). I personally love grab bags because it gives me a great selection of stickers and it is a fun way to get acquainted with new (new to me) sticker company.

If you like the colors from the Inkwell Press Planners, then you will enjoy the selection of stickers available from The Busy Bee Shop.  These stickers looked great in my Inkwell Press planner.
Jessica Patterson from The Busy Bee Shop
I particularly liked the color scheme that she had on display at the Planner Lovers Retreat.

She has other color schemes at her shop.

Another Great Sticker shop was Clicky Chic Creates from Etsy.  The Clicky Chic Creates pop up shop had a fun assortment of stickers.

The owner, Connie, was such fun to talk to. She has a Facebook Page and Instagram page where you can find out about new releases and sticker specials.

She designs her stickers in a variety of themes to suit various occasions.

She only brought a sampling of stickers from her line, so I encourage you to visit her Etsy store to see more.

The next booth I stopped at was Peace_Aloha_Shakas, who carried a great selection of cute charms for my planner.

I was able to buy 3 different Pokeman charms (including Pikachu) for my daughter to put on her planner. I also bought the simple silver circle with pink elastic for my Marion Smith Planner.

Another fund booth, I stopped by was the "Uglidori" table where Dania Salgado makes these beautiful custom fabric Fauxdoris and keychains.

She had a donut themed Fauxdori with pockets that I just had to have.

As well as these tiny fauxdoris in assorted patterns and fabrics.  These are so darling. Diana also has an instagram account @pageflagfeen  where she posts some of her planner layouts.

Diana was kind enough to make me a miniature fauxdori to match my larger fauxdori. It is really cute.

For those who want to know what was in the Marion Smith Planner Retreat swag bag and a look at the various cute swap items I got, I will be posting part III soon.

I should mention that Marion Smith now has her products on Amazon which makes it easier to find them.  I particularly like the Marion Smith 30 day planner which I use for blogging to plan my next 30 blog posts.  It really helps keep me organized. If you want to see a flip through video of that planner, just leave a comment below to let me know.

Note: This is part 2 of my event review for the Planner Event (Planner Meet Up). if you want to read Part 1 just click here.   Also, this post is not sponsored, I paid for my ticket just like everyone else who attended.
