Time Travelers Weekend Renaissance Fair

"The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire" our southern renaissance fair holds their annual "Time Traveler" weekend event each year. The southern renaissance faire is held at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale, California. 

It is a great opportunity for guests or cosplayers to wear their favorite time traveler costumes.  If you are a fan of steampunk, then this weekend at the Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire is for you.  There are a lot of steampunk cosplayers who show up with an amazing selection of costumes and accessories.

It is also a fun opportunity to see a variety of costumes from different eras,

along with a multitude of creative fandom attire

that included some amazing Steampunk costumes, Dr. Who costumes and so much more.

I love the way guests accessorized their costumes.

There many different styles of steampunk costumes which included costumes for women, men and children.  Unfortunately, the kids were a little harder to photograph since I have to get a photo release for minors to post on my blog.  So I did not include any pictures of them this time.

Anyway, the various Steampunk cosplayers had costumes which featured some fun and unique accessories

that varied from person to person.

I love the wooden wings on this costume.  The creator used wood, aluminum and copper (possibly brass) to make these.

Of course there was also an excellent selection of Doctor Who Costumes and cosplayers.  These were only a few of the Doctor Fandom Characters that I encountered that day.

You can also find some fun mash ups between pirates and wenches with a little bit of steampunk thrown it.

Since it was the Renaissance Faire, I found some unique and traditional fairy outfits around the shire.

Each weekend at the Renaissance Faire has a different theme, so it is a great opportunity to pull out your costumes and cosplay outfits to show them off and interact in character at "The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire" in Irwindale, California.

A Sampling of Costumes From the Renaissance Faire

I thought I would share some fun costume images for those who are looking for Renaissance Faire or Halloween Costume Ideas.  These are just a few of costumes I encountered at my visit to my local Renaissance Faire.  These are only a few examples of some fun renfaire garb ideas.  Personally, I love the one above of a dog dressed as a pirate.  Many of the visitors with service dogs had really fun costumes for them.

There were all types of fun costumes to be found this year at faire. Including the "Three Sisters" who were witches of sorts.  They had a really fun gig they did throughout the faire.

I am not sure what these characters were supposed to be but they are fun costumes.

This zebra costume was an amazing makeup job and held up well during the 100 degree day.

The Fairy was very popular with the kids.

As was this performer who did mime and interacted with the various guests at the faire.

Some folks came dressed in their Wild West Gear.

The tree man was a great addition to the faire this year.  He was about 12 feet high and it was amazing that he could handle the hole filled terrain in those stilts.

Then of course there were more traditional renaissance faire costumes, like the Queens Guard Costumes.

And male and female peasant costumes.

These female Renaissance Faire performers had on more traditional costumes.

This child's Renaissance Faire costume was very meticulously made and held up well throughout the season filled with daily performances.

There were all types of interesting faire garb to be found at this event. I hope you enjoy this sampling.

Halloween Costumes: A Look At Some Creative & Fun Costumes

Halloween is just around the corner and many of us are already planning our Halloween party wardrobes.  So I thought I would upload some pics of some of the costumes from the various Cosplay costumes, fantasy costumes, and Renaissance Faire costumes that I have encountered during my own visits to various trade shows and costumed events to inspire and amuse.

With Cosplay being so popular, you can find some great tutorials for both the Cosplay costume and makeup on YouTube. Here is a good tutorial for a quick and easy female Pikachu Cosplay girl costume from "Jojogirl34's" YouTube channel.  FYI, the picture is sideways but the video in in the correct format.

By the way I found a great video on YouTube for creating "Ryuk" Cosplay makeup and costume. It is well made and has a great breakdown of the steps for applying the makeup and making an inexpensive costume.  It used to be on QueenBeauty's YouTube page (before she closed the account) and was apparently uploaded onto the Cozplaii YouTube account recently.

Charisma Star Tv on YouTube uploaded a great video on doing fairy makeup, it is really easy to follow and she a very talented makeup artist.

Pirate costumes are popular choices because you can be as creative as you like with them.

Werewolf's also seem to be gaining in popularity.

I came across some cool dragon costumes.

Then there are the Trolls of the world.

The Viking hat is hand crocheted.

Then there is the spandex crew.

And for the Steampunk fans.

The Painted Ladies are characters from the Ren Faire who wear heavy makeup and bright colors. 

There are so many great ideas out there.  I recommend doing a google image search for more ideas.  As for makeup tutorials, you can find some fabulous ones on YouTube.
